Lyons

Lyons is one of Britain's best-known cake brands and excels in making whole cakes, ideal for sharing. It's the first choice for exceptional quality and taste, using only the finest ingredients.

Lyons opened its first teashop in 1894 in Piccadilly, and by 1940 there were 250 throughout the country. In the 1950s, Lyons Bakery began marketing attractively packaged cakes for sale through grocery outlets, and in 1976 built the largest cake bakery in the world - still operating today.

The Lyons range includes the famous pink and yellow Battenburg, Swiss Rolls, plus innovations like the Date and Walnut Loaf, Lemon Loaf, Marmalade Cake (made with Robertson's Golden Shred) and Cherry Cake.

In 2002, Lyons launched its first range of cakes to be eaten hot! Flavours included Sticky Caramel and Coconut Cakes. The same year, it joined the Golden Jubilee celebrations with a special edition 'Elizabeth Sandwich' cake.
